Quotes from Ethan

When we're doing a task, like buckling Ethan in his car seat, I usually try to make a game out of it by seeing if he can get it done before I count to a number. If I'm counting to, let's say, 10, and he gets it done by the time I get to, like, 6, I will say, "Oh, that wasn't even close!!" The other day, it wasn't even close and Ethan said, "Wow, that was far!"

Dad: What would you like to pray about tonight?
Ethan: Sadie, Sadie, Sadie, Sadie. God, please don't let Sadie run away and get lost in the woods and get out of a hole in the kennel. Thank you, God. Amen.
(and tonight he prayed for God to find Ollie :( , and he tells me almost everyday, "I miss Ollie, Ollie, Ollie.")

While I was getting ready for church on Sunday, Ethan asked if he could watch cartoons. He turned on the TV, then ran back in the bathroom super excited: "Mom, Mom, Mom, there's a show about cars on!" Cars are not really his thrill (like sprinklers, lawn mowers, fans, and tools in general), so I was pretty surprised about his excitement. He dragged me out there to see this cool show. It was a paid-program for Clay Cooley Dodge, a used car lot. He sat there and commented, "That car is bootiful. That one looks cool. I wish I could have a car like that!"

Ethan begins many factual statements with, "You know..." For example, "You know, fish swim in water. You know, that airplane lands on wheels. You know, if you push that button then water comes out."

"Say, you wanna come along with me?"
I don't know where he got that from, but he uses it quite a bit and I think it's so cute.

NERDS!!

These are Ethan's silly "goo-goo goggles" (from Dr. Seuss' ABC's) and his favorite kazoo, with which he makes such beautiful music around the house at mostly inappropriate and annoying hours of the day.
I don't have clue what kind of smile this is. Those are his real teeth.
ummm...ok....kids are so weird sometimes!
Good thing he's got those floaties and goggles on for the six-inches of water he's playing in!

Ethan quoting Woody from "Toy Story": "And another thing, stop with this space-man thing; it's getting on my nerds!"

Ethan's favorite and only-requested flavor at the snow cone cart: Nerdy Cone--1/2 Lime, 1/2 Lemon, with Sour Nerds sprinkled on top.

Sometimes he's a nerd, but he's our precious nerd, and he makes us laugh!

eeeeee!!!

(*Our camera doesn't get read by the computer anymore, but we found another solution, so now I can officially post pictures again. That's just a side "eeee"; now for the real one....)

Chris and I scored a last-minute babysitter on Sunday night (Sue, if you read this, you and Bob are superstars!) and we were able to see George Michael in concert! Only my mom and friend, Jenny, could understand just how jaw-dropping this event was for me. Let me just say, "First crushes don't die." I am still giddy with excitement that I got to see George Michael in REAL LIFE. I'm not a star-struck kind of person, and I wouldn't recognize a celebrity if they were standing two feet in front of me with crowds of people around (a.k.a. Jamie Foxx at Serendipity's tiny hallway in New York. Even now, I had to ask Chris, "Who was that guy we saw in New York??" He couldn't remember either. I had to google "Miami Vice"). Anyway, I digress. I could never understand people who cried at concerts, but when it hit me that he was there, just below me, and I could see his adorable dimples on the big screen, I did have maybe a small tear in my eye. It's like all my dreams from girlhood were coming true. Except he wasn't wearing a white hoody sweatshirt and picking me up on his motorcycle from my 6th grade assembly at Glenmeade Elementary (that's how I always envisioned it).

Oh my goodness, he is a talented singer. We enjoyed all the Wham and Faith songs, and wish there were more. Chris commented that he wished he was George Michael. I'm not kidding. He made the clarification, "Except for all the g-a-y part". Phew. I was worried for a second.

I only got to snap two pictures. The first is me feeling sad because I saw the "No Cameras Allowed" sign, and the second is one I forced on Chris....pre-concert, he didn't want to admit he was there. Post-concert, he was wishing to be George Michael.

First Swim!!

I'm so proud of Ethan!! His swim lessons have really bolstered his confidence with the water. Today was his first day to swim at the waterpark with floaties, and I couldn't believe how much swimming he was doing with his face under the water!

Later in the afternoon, since he was doing so well, I asked if he wanted to try swimming without his floaties. He had no fear as he swam to and from the stairs to me, and to and from the wall to me. I couldn't believe that was his little body squirming under the water as he reached for me!

In a sense, I was disappointed that I didn't have my camera. On the other hand, my videos and pictures would still be stuck on the camera anyway...ggrrrr.... It's a problem with our computer reading our camera. We tried to get into the Genius Bar at the Apple Store the other day, but they had no availability. We're going to try on the 15th when we'll be in the area again. Until then, all photos are frozen in my camera, and it's driving me crazy!

Peanuts for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Chris and I wanted to go out to a restaurant for brunch before he left for work. Ethan, busy playing with his airplanes, was not in agreement, and whined, "I don't wanna go to a restaurant!" In the next breath he came up with a brilliant idea for Daddy..."It's OK, Daddy, they have peanuts at the airport!" He then proceeded to dig through our pantry snack box, and pulled out several left-over Southwest peanuts, as well as some yogurt covered raisins (which Ethan has always disliked) and generously gave them to Chris so that we would not have to go to a restaurant.

In the end, he lost. We enjoyed our Chilitos brunch :)

50% Warrior; 50% Lover

We went to see Wall-E today, but the most entertaining part for me was this trailer for a Disney movie coming out in the fall.

Say it ain't so....I think I'm going to see this one (for Ethan, of course!).

**I really hope I don't lose friends over this post ;)
