Picture Post

Norah Isabella, 2 months.
Last week, Norah weighed 7 lbs, 1 oz. This week, she weighed 7 lbs, 13 oz---a gain of 12 oz in 8 days!! She is in the 50% for weight. She is 20.5 inches (75%) and her head circumference is 35 cm (50%).

Norah has the most kissable cheeks! She demands attention and has quite a temper. She works herself into fiery tears and bright red face in a second. Chris says she's "high maintenance and definitely "my" child". She loves to snuggle and has worked her magic into sleeping with us in bed--the only place she will let us all sleep in peace. One friend said Norah was not meant to be a twin because she wants all eyes on her. She's been quite a character, even since all her flipping in the womb!

Audrey Elise, 2 months

Last week, sweet peanut Audrey weighed 6 lbs, 11 oz. Today, she weighed 7 lbs, 3 oz--Ethan weighed 7 lbs, 2 oz at birth! She is in the 30% for weight. She was 19.5 inches (50%) and her head circumference was 35.5 cm (60%).
Audrey has such a sweet, gentle disposition--not unlike her quiet self in the womb. She is easy going and though she would rather snuggle, she is fine to sit contently and take things in. She loves her pacifier and sucks it vigorously, like Maggie on the Simpsons. She also loves a relaxing, warm bath. When she does need something, her cry is sweet and small, and she makes the most pitiful little face. She's a keeper!

Ethan and Daddy installed new toilet seats today. Here's Ethan demonstrating the new razzle-dazzle feature--a small seat within a large seat! Chris decided that since we would need little people seats for the next several years, this was the way to go.

Here are both the girls in a twin carrier.
Together in the carrier.

We took Ethan to play mini-golf and ride go-carts this week. His face was SO cute on the go-carts, which we ended up riding 3 times. We thought that would be his favorite part of the day, but he said his favorite was mini-golf!

Poor Ethan. We promise he doesn't always have Dumb and Dumber hair....

Grandma and Grandpa. Doesn't Mom look pretty?

It's always windy on trash day, and other random things...

It's a beautiful night, and so windy. And it's trash day. So typical. Looking forward to picking up random trash tomorrow.

I found a new station that I was REALLY excited about because they play old-school cartoonies! Smurfs was fun, Flintstones wasn't as great as I remembered, but the best part was watching Ethan giggle at Scooby-Doo.

Ethan wanted a tape recorder, and since I have fond memories of my brown Fisher-Price tape recorder, I was more than happy to oblige. We found one at the Goodwill, but the plastic microphone had caked-in crust, and that was just too gross. I talked Ethan into going with me to another store to find one....which turned into a trip all over town...lugging babies in and out of the car and all around the stores...and we FINALLY found one at Wal- mart (just up the street, of course; I should have listened to Chris in the first place) and it was more money than I wanted to spend, but since we had looked so hard, I bought it. Thirty minutes into our recording fun, it malfunctioned and started burning through the plastic :(

Audrey and Norah are two months old today! Nothing new to report, but we have a doctors appointment tomorrow. Booo....I hear Audrey waking up....I was enjoying my quiet....

Chris had an emergency landing tonight. Something was burning somewhere. I don't have any details, but it involved air masks and fire trucks. Praise God he's safe and on his way home!

We visited a busy park over the weekend, and while all four of us were in the women's room alone (Ethan, the two babies in a stroller, and myself), a man entered. I thought he innocently made a mistake and I said, "Oops, this is the women's room." He started quivering and making weird noises and kind of pushed past us into a stall, where he continued to make noise and act strangely. My heart sank and I couldn't round up Ethan and maneuver the stroller out of there fast enough. It scared the daylights out of me! It turns out, he was mentally ill and his caretakers came looking for him. It made me realize how quickly and unexpectedly something could happen....like that's all I need (anyone who knows me knows that FEAR is my biggest spiritual hang up).

I don't like Starbucks Chai Tea truffles.

My house is quiet :) and almost clean :) :)

I still have to make Ethan's lunch.

Chris is coming home. We survived the weekend without him.

Night time is easier than day time.

I love Jesus.

My spell-check isn't working.

Norah poops way more than Audrey, but Audrey spits way more than Norah. They slept together in the Boppy last night, and I slept with them on the couch. As an experiment, I let them sleep as long as they wanted (almost). We're still supposed to wake them every 3 hours until they weigh 8-9 pounds. After 6 hours, I HAD to wake them to eat...their "breakfast bar" was about to explode, if you know what I mean. I think they loved snuggling.

I should be sleeping.

Grandma and Grandpa

Grandma and Grandpa are visiting this week, and Chris has returned to work...

Ethan: "When Daddy is at work, it's just you, me, Grandma, and Grandpa. What's Grandpa's name again?

Me: Lonnie

Ethan: Oh yeah, Lonnie and Stale.
(Grandma's name is Gail)

Me: he,he,he

Ethan: Lonnie and Stale. That's a funny name!

Nursery is DONE!

Sweet Erin L. sent these blankets to the girls when Norah was home and Audrey was still in the NICU. She added the sweetest note which reminded me that though the girls were apart, they were united in the loving arms of Jesus. It was such a tender touch.

These are the beautiful name tags that Trisha M. made for the girls while they were in the hospital.

This has been my theme verse since the day I found out I was pregnant--"With God, all things are possible." I REALLY wanted to have it displayed in the nursery. Imagine my delight when I found this plaque, which matches perfectly with the decor. GOD IS GOOD---What a loving Daddy!!!

Just another touch from my oh-so-creative mother-in-law, Gail. She sewed the basket liners, crib skirts, chair cover, curtains, and these flower tie-backs.

Ethan wanted to hold Audrey....

But then also wanted his picture taken with his cheese grater (Christmas wish, 2007)

Oxyclean

Oh my GOODNESS...this just in while I'm blogging...

We decided to buy Oxyclean because we heard it is the only thing to work on spit-up stains.

Chris has been doing just about ALL the laundry this week--which has been a TON. What a wonderful husband.

We just saw a commercial for Oxyclean and Chris says, "Oh dude, are we supposed to be putting laundry detergent in WITH the Oxyclean?"

Um, yeah. We've done about 20 loads of laundry with no detergent.

Light Bulb

For the past several weeks, Ethan has told us, "I think today I'm going to break open a light bulb and see what's inside."

(so cute. so funny. we love him.)

We finally got around to it yesterday. He was SO EXCITED!! Gotta love his "Safety First Goggles"--his idea, of course.

We had a good nap today...

....Mostly because everyone (including Sadie) was so exhausted by Norah's pill of a night. We're putting some of "The Happiest Baby on the Block" tips into action tonight, and so far so good...but let's not jinx it....

To Clarify...

If Ethan ever tells you he ate "rotten noodles" for lunch, we aren't rotten parents....

"rotten noodles"=="ramen noodles"

Cheap Thrills

Chris and I actually got to witness the clock on our cable box jump from 1:59 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. this morning. We may not celebrate New Year's around here, but we GET DOWN with daylight savings time coming to an end.

Here's our conversation while feeding Audrey and Norah:

Chris: Here's the question. Do you think the clock will go to 2:00 or straight to 3:00?

Michelle: Hmm...I don't know.... No, I think it will go to 2:00..... What do you think?

Chris: It's gotta change sometime....

(Silence while staring at 1:59........Then BOOM...3:00!)

Michelle: Ahhh, Whoooah....

And the dumb thing is, I really thought that was exciting.

It's obvious we have not been out much in the last couple months....
